At Petersburg Is Growing Inc., we believe fresh, nutrient-dense food should be a right, not a privilege. That’s why we launched the “Greater is The Goal” Campaign, an initiative built on commUNITY, collaboration, and creativity.
From April 1, 2024, to January 1, 2025, thanks to a partnership between Petersburg Is Growing Inc., Haus & Market Foundation, and River Street Education, we provided Petersburg residents the opportUNITY to “shop” for free, fresh, local produce at the Shop w/ The P.L.U.G. @ Haus on Market St. and the P.L.U.G. Mobile FarmStand.For those unable to visit in person, our Farm 2 Door Delivery service brought produce right to their doorstep.
This unique model enPOWERed people to choose what they needed, restoring dignity and creating a deeper CONNECTion to their food. Over the course of the campaign, we provided an average of 200 pounds of fresh produce weekly to over 100 people, all while supporting our local farmers and keeping resources within our commUNITY.
A Shift in the Journey
In January 2025, our partner River Street Education stepped away from the initiative, reminding us how important it is to create SUSTAINable programs that can stand the test of time.
We’re grateful for their support and are now focused on strengthening the campaign by seeking new partners and commUNITY support to keep it alive and thriving.
How You Can Help
We need local farmers, growers, and backyard gardeners to donate surplus produce and help us continue feeding families while STRENGTHening our local food system.
