Data Safety
Last updated: August 12, 2026. This page is maintained by Petersburg Is Growing Inc.
How Petersburg Is Growing protects family, grower, volunteer, and donation information.
Our commitment
Petersburg Is Growing Inc. treats personal information as stewardship — especially data about youth, families, volunteers, and donors. This page explains the practical safety practices behind our Privacy Policy.
What we protect
- Contact details and form messages
- Booking and donation records
- Grower / volunteer farm codes and related program progress
- Parent or guardian consent records for under-18 participants
How we keep data safer
- Access control: staff admin tools require sign-in; only authorized roles can view sensitive program records.
- Encrypted transport: the public site and admin tools use HTTPS. Sensitive commerce and program payloads are encrypted in transit where our secure backend is enabled.
- Least privilege: payment card data stays with our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
- Kid-friendly codes: returning growers use short farm/soil codes instead of passwords. Codes identify progress; they are not a substitute for guardian consent.
- Service providers: we use reputable hosting, email, and payment partners and share only what they need to operate.
Youth and guardian consent
When a booking or check-in includes someone under 18, we collect parent/guardian consent from the adult completing the form. Parents may ask us to review, correct, or delete a child's information.
Retention
We keep records as long as needed to run programs, meet legal and grant obligations, and resolve disputes — then remove or archive them according to our internal practices.
Incidents
If we learn of a data incident that affects you, we will investigate, contain the issue, and notify affected people and authorities when required by law.
Your requests
To request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your information, email tcherry@petersburgisgrowing.org. We may need to verify the request before acting.
