Introducing Our Food 4 Thought Free Libraries: Nourishing Minds

At Petersburg Is Growing, we believe that food and knowledge are the cornerstones of a thriving community. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our Food 4 Thought Free Libraries initiative. Located at key spots throughout Petersburg, these mini-libraries provide free books to anyone looking to expand their knowledge, spark their curiosity, or simply enjoy a good read.

Our Food 4 Thought Free Libraries are more than just boxes of books. They represent our commitment to creating spaces where people can not only nourish their bodies through our various food programs but also feed their minds. Access to literature and education should be just as available as fresh, healthy food, and with these libraries, we’re taking another step toward bridging gaps in our community.

You can find our Food 4 Thought Free Libraries at the following locations in Petersburg, VA:

  1. Petersburg Oasis Youth Farm – The heart of our community where sustainability and learning come together.
  1. Pleasants Lane Elementary School – A place where young minds are cultivated, now with even more opportunities to read and grow.
  1. River Street Market – Adding a little extra food for thought to your shopping experience.
  1. Walnut Hill Elementary School – Fostering a love for reading and learning among students and families alike.

Each library is stocked with a diverse selection of books, encouraging children, teens, and adults to take a book, leave a book, and build a sense of shared knowledge. It’s a simple way to spread learning, joy, and connection across Petersburg.

We invite everyone to visit a library, share in the joy of reading, and help keep our shelves stocked. With the help of our volunteers and the community, we can continue to foster a love of learning for years to come.

Let’s keep growing—both in knowledge and as a community.
