At Petersburg Is Growing, we’re more than just a farmstand—we’re a movement that’s dedicated to bringing fresh, local produce directly to neighborhoods in need. This summer, our Mobile Farmstand launched with a mission to provide residents of food deserts with access to healthy fruits, vegetables, and value-added products like juices and teas.
Led by our dedicated Market Director, Karima Craighead, the Mobile Farmstand is doing more than just delivering food. We’re offering select produce free of charge to residents, with everything else available on a “pay as you can” basis. This ensures that everyone has access to nutritious options, regardless of their financial situation.
But that’s not all—we’re also investing in the future of our community by training and developing young market managers and interns. Karima has been instrumental in providing hands-on experience to youth and young adults, equipping them with essential skills in marketing, customer service, and farmstand operations. These opportunities give young people the chance to engage in meaningful work while also helping to address the food insecurity many of our neighbors face.
Our Mobile Farmstand doesn’t just provide healthy food; it provides hope, training, and a path toward self-sufficiency for the next generation. We’re proud to serve the Petersburg community and look forward to continuing this journey of nourishing both bodies and minds.
