Feeding The People, Supporting Our Farmers
Starting May 2025, Petersburg League of Urban Growers (P.L.U.G.) is launching the Petersburg Is Growing CSA to bring fresh, locally grown food straight to the commUNITY.
This is more than just fresh food-it’s an investment in our commUNITY, our health, and our local farmers. Every week, members will receive Petersburg Produce Packs (PPPs)- a box filled with seasonal, nutrient dense fruits and vegetables sourced from local farmers, with some of it grown right here in Petersburg.
In addition to fresh produce, we are offering locally raised meats including chicken, rabbit, lamb, beef, and goat, ensuring that families have access to fresh, ethically sourced protein alongside their produce.

By participating in the Petersburg Is Growing CSA, you’re not just feeding your household- you’re supporting the farmers who work tirelessly to nourish our community.
This is an opportunity to uplift the farmers of the Petersburg Oasis CommUNITY Farm, including:
* Farmer Tasha of Healing Hope Urban Garden, dedicated to growing nutrient-rich produce and providing healing through agriculture.
* The Backyard Farmer, Obar Mayo, bringing sustainable backyard farming to the forefront, ensuring that our food system remains strong and independent.
When we invest in our farmers, we invest in our health.
Supporting local agriculture means keeping the circulation of the dollar within our own community, stimulating our local economy, creating jobs, and generating wealth and health where we live.
Every dollar spent with the Petersburg Is Growing CSA stays in Petersburg, ensuring that our children, elders, and families have access to fresh, nutritious food grown by people who care about the commUNITY.

If you have specific health goals or are looking for a more tailored approach to your nutrition, we can connect you with our commUNITY’s Certified Dietitian & Nutritionist to create a custom Prescription Produce Pack (PPP) that accommodates your needs. Whether you’re managing diabetes, high blood pressure, or just looking to eat better, we’ll make sure you get the right produce and local foods to support your health journey.
How It Works
We’re making it easy, affordable, and convenient for YOU to get fresh food while supporting local farmers:
* Pick-Up at the Petersburg Oasis CommUNITY Farm - Get your box straight from the source.
* Pick-Up at Haus on Market St. (215 N. Market St.) - Stop by and grab your weekly PPP.
*Farm 2 Door Delivery Service- No car? No problem. We’ll bring your PPP straight to your door.
And if you use EBT/SNAP, you get 50% off all local produce through the Virginia Fresh Match Program. That means fresh fruits and vegetables at half the cost- because nutrient dense food should be for everyone.
